Laura P. Denault graduated from the University
of Florida in Gainesville, Florida in 1984. She graduated
in the top 10% of her class and was a member of the Phi Kappa
Phi Honor Society. A portion of her undergraduate studies
was completed in Florence, Italy. Thereafter, she attended
the University of Florida College of Law, where she was a
member and coach of the Moot Court Team. In her third year
of law school, she taught legal research and writing to first
year students. She received her J.D. with Honors in 1988.
After law school Ms. Denault was selected
to clerk for the Honorable Bobby Gunther at the Fourth District
Court of Appeal in West Palm Beach, Florida. Thereafter, she
was a federal judicial clerk for the Honorable Kenneth L.
Ryskamp of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District
of Florida. After completing her service with the courts,
in 1991 Ms. Denault joined the law firm of Overchuck &
Langa, P.A. in Orlando, Florida. During her four years with
the firm, she represented plaintiffs in personal injury, wrongful
death, and products liability cases. In 1995, she returned
to her hometown of Miami, Florida, where she practiced with
Russo & Talisman, P.A., a firm that specialized in appeals
and litigation support in complex civil cases. After a year
she opened her own firm, and continued to specialize in civil
appeals and litigation support in complex cases. She is a
founding partner of Overchuck, Byron, Overchuck
P.A.
Ms. Denault was admitted to the U.S. District
Court for the Middle District of Florida in 1991; the U.S.
District Court for the Southern District of Florida in 1996;
and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida
in 1996. She was admitted to the U.S. Court of Appeal for
the Eleventh Circuit in 1998. She was a member of the Christian
Legal Society from 1985-1988 and from 1997-1999. She is a
member of the Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers, and the co-author
of Products Liability in Florida Trial, 3rd Ed., 1995.
